Pampers
Kangaroo
-A-Thon
Pampers came to us in need of a way to increase skin-to-skin contact between parents and their newborns in the NICU. In response, we developed the Pampers Kangaroo-a-thon event, aimed at motivating and empowering nursing staff to promote this vital bonding practice. The event kit includes comprehensive resources for nurses to effectively host the Kangaroo-a-thon, featuring flyers, sign-up and entry forms, tracking charts, printable art, banners, stickers, badge clips, and a countdown calendar leading up to the event. This initiative was designed to support healthy development for babies and strengthen parental connections.

Outcome
The event invited a group of hospitals to track and report their skin-to-skin time over a 12-day period, with the hospital logging the most hours receiving a grant from Pampers. Ultimately, 744 nurses and parents recorded 1,011 hours of skin-to-skin contact involving 629 babies in the NICU. The initiative garnered significant support from both nurses and parents, leading to increased interest from additional hospitals wishing to participate in future events.
